Traditions
One of the best parts about opening Hamlet on Broadway was getting to experience some cherished theater traditions, like the infamous “Legacy Robe” ritual. Basically that one involves finding the chorus member with the most Broadway credits, making them wear a special robe (quilted together using memorabilia from other Broadway shows), dancing around them in a big circle, and then, when their guard is down, knocking them out and burying them alive under the stage. It’s a bit like putting an old racehorse out of its misery, except more fun because it involves a colorful robe.
